Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup milk (or buttermilk)
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup finely chopped apples (peeled if desired)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
- Cut the dough into 8 equal biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the biscuits are golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, drizzle with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar, a splash of milk, and a pinch of cinnamon.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can substitute part of the apples with pears.
- Adjust the amount of sugar and spices based on the sweetness and tartness of your apples.
- Serve warm for the best texture and taste.
