Ingredients
– 1 lb ground beef
– 1 tbsp vegetable oil
– 3 cloves garlic, minced
– 1/2 onion, finely chopped
– 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
– 2 tbsp soy sauce
– 1 tbsp rice vinegar
– 1 tbsp sesame oil
– 1 tsp ginger, grated
– 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
– 1/2 cup shredded carrots
– 1/2 cup water chestnuts, chopped
– 2 green onions, chopped
– 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
– 1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce
Instructions
1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
3. Add the garlic, onion, and ginger. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
4. Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
5. Cook for another 2 minutes, then add the shredded carrots and water chestnuts. Stir well.
6. Remove from heat and mix in chopped green onions.
7. Spoon the beef mixture into lettuce cups.
8. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve immediately.
