Description

A delightful appetizer featuring flaky puff pastry topped with creamy mozzarella and fresh asparagus, all drizzled with a luscious herb-infused honey. This dish combines savory and sweet flavors, making it a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

– 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

– 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

– 1 bunch asparagus, trimmed

– 2 tablespoons olive oil

– Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

– 1/2 cup honey

– 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves

– 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped

– 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Instructions

1. **Preheat the Oven:**

– Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. **Prepare the Puff Pastry:**

– On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to fit your baking sheet.

– Transfer the pastry to the prepared baking sheet and score a 1-inch border around the edges without cutting all the way through.

3. **Assemble the Tart:**

– Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the center of the pastry, staying within the scored border.

– Arrange the asparagus spears on top of the cheese, alternating directions for an attractive pattern.

– Drizzle olive oil over the asparagus and season with salt and pepper.

4. **Bake:**

– Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed, and the cheese is melted.

5. **Prepare the Herb Honey:**

– While the tart is baking, melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat.

– Stir in the honey, thyme, and rosemary. Cook for 2-3 minutes until warmed through. Remove from heat.

6. **Finish and Serve:**

– Once the tart is baked, remove from the oven and drizzle the herb honey over the asparagus.

– Slice and serve warm.

Notes

– **Variations:** For a dairy-free version, use vegan cheese and ensure the puff pastry is dairy-free.

– **Storage:** Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat before serving.

– **Serving Suggestions:** This tart pairs well with a light salad or can be served as part of a brunch spread.
