Description
A twist on the traditional crab rangoon, these bite-sized bombs are filled with a creamy, savory crab mixture and then deep-fried until golden and crispy. Perfect as an appetizer or party snack.
Ingredients
– 8 oz cream cheese, softened
– 8 oz lump crab meat (or imitation crab)
– 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
– 1 clove garlic, minced
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 12-16 wonton wrappers
– Vegetable oil, for frying
– Optional: Sweet chili sauce for dipping
Instructions
1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
2. Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of the crab mixture in the center of each wrapper.
3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with a little water. Fold the wrapper over the filling to form a triangle or a small pouch, ensuring the edges are sealed tightly.
4. In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the crab rangoons in batches for 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
5. Remove the bombs with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
6. Serve warm with sweet chili sauce for dipping, if desired.
Notes
– For a lighter option, try baking the filled wonton wrappers at 400°F on a lightly greased baking sheet for 10-12 minutes until crisp.
– Ensure the filling is well mixed for even flavor distribution.
– Adjust the seasoning based on your taste preference.
