- In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
- Add Eggs and Vanilla:
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Incorporate Dry Ingredients and Buttermilk:
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined.
- Fold in Hot Fudge and Extras:
- Gently fold in the hot fudge sauce. If using, fold in the chocolate chips or chopped nuts at this stage. Be careful not to overmix.
